Licensed Practical Nurse
Under minimal supervision by the Jail Administrator, the incumbent is responsible to provide daily general medical care and treatment for approximately 400 detainees, as well as meeting State and Federal mandated regulations. Treatment of TB and other diseases and the collection of DNA samples on all detainees as required by law. Serving under the direction of a physician, the Nurse will oversee the physical and mental well being of all detainees. Even though the patients are incarcerated, the d etainees' medical information is protected as privileged information not subject to the Freedom of Information Act. Emergency Medical Technician
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The incumbent reports to the Assistant Administrator/Public Safety and is responsible for administering emergency medical services and transporting sick or injured persons to medical care facilities. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of vehicles and equipment, ambulance headquarters facility, equipment and supplies. The EMT-Paramedic performs advanced life support skills based upon paramedic certified education and training. The position is governed by Arkansas State Board of Health Rules and Regulations, EMT Certification Standards, Medical Director Standing Orders, equipment Operating manuals and Department policies and procedures. Responsibilities are performed under limited supervision.
Detention Deputy
The Detention Deputy works under the direct supervision of the Detention Administrator and/or Deputy Detention Administrator. Work involves the responsibility for the health, safety, welfare and security of prisoners. Work involves an element of personal danger and incumbent must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies. Educational level of high school or GED
Juvenile Detention Officer
Provides supervision and counseling to juvenile offenders while they are in the Juvenile Detention facility. Must maintain order, safety and provide a positive influence. Must be able to effectively communicate with juveniles. Perform other duties as assigned. Exposure to potential physical harm. Reports to the Chief Juvenile Detention Deputy. This position is governed by County procedures and the Arkansas Criminal and Juvenile Codes. High School diploma or equivalent is required
Executive Assistant
The incumbent assists the County Judge in overseeing office operations and in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer position as a personal assistant and key team member. Supports Judge in monitoring and completing office tasks and projects on a timely basis and in a professional manner. Provides secretarial and administrative support including Quorum Court administration, operation of county boards and committees, and coordination with county offices, city governments and other agencies. Prepare reports, including research and data analysis, drafting correspondence, ordinances, and court orders. Coordinate with administrative staff and department heads to facilitate team work and assist with completion of project assignments, monitoring office workflow and deadline. Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, ten key, Excel, Microsoft Office, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus n ight, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, and 12 to 18 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Government/Legal Laws and Procedures a plus, but not required.
Courts Security Officer/Bailiff
The part time Bailiff/ Security Officer works under supervision and is responsible for providing security of buildings and grounds. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy. Performs foot patrol of buildings, grounds, and parking areas observing for hazards, violators, and unauthorized persons violations. Designate responsible party for after hour alarms. Transports detainees to and from court, subdues unruly persons, and escorts to designated area. High school, or equivalent. Please apply at 901 South B. Street, Fort Smith, AR. Mechanic Services
The incumbent, under the supervision of the Senior Mechanic performs major and minor repairs to County Road Department vehicles and equipment. Service and lubricate County road vehicles and equipment. Must have basic “Mechanical” tools. Change tires and repair flats. Assist Mechanics with repairs as directed. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent and two(2) years mechanical experience with gas and diesel engines. Must possess a valid CDL with proper endorsements. If no CDL at time of hire, the employee will have 6 months from the hire date to pass the written part of CDL Test unless Superintendent waves this in writing. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Must be knowledgeable of equipment and machinery used in mechanical repair. Must be able to weld.
